Works great! April 26, 2010 Sondra Kamper (Austin, TX USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have only had this unit for a few days, so don't know how it will hold up over time, but it works like it's supposed to, and I'm very happy with it so far. I'm not thrilled, however, that the price has dropped by $20 in the few days since I bought mine! Like others have said for others of the induction cooktops, the heat is concentrated in the center 4" of the plate, but this is not a real problem for boiling water, etc. And, if using a pot/pan that spreads the heat well, such as iron or pots with a thick clad bottom, it seems to mostly work out ok for other things. I had a problem trying to make an omelet, but maybe if I heat the pan slower and then add the eggs, the heat might spread out to the edge of the pan better (scrambled omelet wasn't bad, however). It might not work well for everything, but for most everything I've tried so far, it worked fine, and doesn't heat the kitchen up a lot. My 3 different sized steel pots with steamer inserts worked fine - 2 are Tramontina (from Walmart I think) - as did my iron and iron-enamelled pans, so I probably won't need to buy any pans especially for this cooktop.
Max Burton Induction cooktop review June 9, 2010 Cooking Fool (Corona, CA, US) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I reviewed a comparison web page and found out that there are several "name brand" manufacturers plus several power ranges available. This unit was both a recognized name brand and had the highest power rating (1800 watts vs. 1200 or 1300W). The unit performs admirably so long as you have the correct pots/pans. Your pots/pans must be made of iron or have iron in them (simply test by seeing if a magnet will stick to pan). The unit gives fast response and has very sensitive adjustments. I would highly recommend this product.
I BOUGHT THREE May 23, 2010 Walerij Holak (New Orleans, La.) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great product and it works perfect. I bought one for my home (I already have a 5 burner Thermador Induction which is incredible because it has instant heat control, cool because only the pot heats up, and the clean up is breath taking easy). This Max Burton 1800 watt is just as good. I also bought 2 for my sail boat. I will buy more as gifts.
Changed my summer cooking! July 21, 2010 greenchilehead 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Love it, wish it came with a carrying case for travel & camping.
Already had some Alclad and LeCrueset so it went to work 15 minutes after it arrived.
Keeps kitchen way cooler than my Vulcan commercial range.
Timer and temp functions are nice once i figured them out.
Love it!!! August 1, 2010 Lia 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an awesome product! I'm not sure what the hype is about the higher power setting though, I only use 10 to boil water, normally I use settings 2 & 3. I read reviews that said this was noisy, it's not. The fan "noise" is barely noticeable. I love this cook-top!!! Went to Marshalls & bought some induction pots & pans for $10 to $15 a piece & they work fantastically! I do recommend buying an enamel coated frying pan for eggs. I'd give this item 100 stars if I could!
