The Ultimate Convection Oven July 28, 2010 Chef Kevin Stanton 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Roasted Chicken with Root Vegetables and Mushroom Sauce
This dish was the first recipe I cooked in the Secura countertop convection oven. As a professional chef, I was amazed at the final product and so was my test audience. The skin of the chicken crisped with the same texture and taste as a Rotisserie machine I often noticed on the streets of Paris, France.
While the skin crisps to a golden brown, the internal juices of the chicken bubble away, cooking the meat in a self-contained manner. The Excess fat cooked off the chicken and settled under the holding rack, saving over 100 grams of fat or 900 calories from my meal.
This meal is perfect for a family of four who have stringent financial and time budgets. The total cost of the dish was $12 and required only a small pan to warm the mushroom sauce. Cleanup takes less than two minutes, so expect many volunteers at the end of the meal! The total calories per serving was under 500 calories, making this meal a nutritious addition to your diet.
Besides the perfectly roasted taste of chicken, the Secura oven saves time by cooking in half the time of a standard oven. Only needing forty-five minutes to cook a perfectly roasted chicken, I saved half the time it takes to cook a similar chicken in a conventional oven. When a chicken takes half the time to cook in this oven, you also save a tremendous amount of electricity, making the oven an earth friendly addition to your kitchen.
I added turnips, potatoes, shallots and carrots to my dish and created a complete meal for four people. Adding two sprigs of rosemary added a subtle flavor to the chicken and vegetables. When the chicken was cooked, the vegetables were roasted and the parsnips and carrots perfectly caramelized. By simply slicing some white mushrooms and heating them with prepared gravy, this was by far the best meal I have cooked in terms of time and efficiency.
The Secura countertop convection oven is my new best friend in the kitchen and I plan on adapting most of my recipes so you can enjoy the taste, time and financial efficiencies in your own kitchen.

Roasted Chicken with Root Vegetables and Mushroom Sauce
Ingredients (serves four people)
1 Whole Chicken - Three Pounds
6 Carrots, Peeled
2 Shallots, large dice
1 large Parsnip
2 Sprigs Rosemary
2 clove garlic
1 Tablespoon Butter, melted
1 Tablespoons All Seasoning
1 Tablespoon Ground Black Pepper
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Salt
8 fingerling Potatoes
6 medium Button Mushroom, sliced
1 cup Beef Gravy
Directions
1. Preheat your convection oven for five minutes with the fan set to medium and the cooking temperature to 205°C (400°F).
2. In the meantime, peel the carrots, shallots and parsnip and cut into one inch pieces. Cut the potatoes lengthwise in half. Add the vegetables to a large mix bowl along with the olive oil, salt and group pepper. Mix well then place on the outer portion of the bottom rack.
3. Sprinkle the skin of the chicken with the salt followed by basting the skin with butter. Place the chicken in the middle of the bottom rack.
4. Set the oven to 205°C (400°F) with a fan speed of medium. Cook the chicken depending on the size of the chicken (10 minutes for every pound). You may need to use the extender ring for this recipe.
5. For the gravy, slice the mushrooms and combine with the gravy in a cooking pot. Heat the sauce until warm then serve.

I really like the easy clean up too. I highly recommend this product. Once I really learn how to use my turbo cooker I may never use my stove, or oven again. only 100 bucks and free shipping great buy.

Secura Halogen Oven, Go HALOGEN!! June 21, 2010 M. Hudson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am amazed by the cooking result of this Secura halogen oven. The heat comes from the top, oil drips to the bottom, cooks very clean, no smoke at all. Food cooked fast, sizzling and good browning. Try this oven, you will not be disappointed. There are a few other similar ovens, but you have to choose the one with halogen heating. Remember the high end restaurant uses the same type of lamp to keep food warm and delicious without drying the surface? Same thing here. If you want your food to be juicy and delicious, go halogens, especially this type of oven heats from the top of the food. This is why you need to use halogen heating. Highly recommend this Secura halogen oven.
